Fees and Medicare Rebates

We accept Medicare with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, private health insurance, TAC, WorkCover, VOCAT and private clients.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Fees range from $220 to $280, depending on your psychologist. With a valid referral, you can claim a Medicare rebate of $100 to $150 per session. After hours surcharges may apply.

For those not requiring a rebate, a doctor’s referral is not required.

Our fees sit below the Australian Psychological Society recommended rate of $330 per session.

Medicare rebates

If your GP refers you with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can claim a Medicare rebate for each session. You pay at the session, and the rebate is deposited into your bank account.

Medicare card holders can access up to 10 Medicare funded sessions per calendar year. Your referring practitioner will review your progress along the way.

Paediatricians and psychiatrists can also refer to psychologists for Medicare eligible services. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is not required, but you will need a referral letter.

Private health insurance

Some private health funds rebate psychology sessions under extras cover. Rebates differ between funds and policies, so check your cover with your insurer before your first session. You can use private cover alongside Medicare, but you cannot claim from both for the same session. Some insurers ask you to use your Medicare sessions first.
